11:30 pm last night Denny finished grooming all the trails with the Pisten Bulley. They had overnight to set up and should be in perfect shape today for both classic and skating.

6 pm Glide Waxing Clinic in the hut with Paul Collett
7 pm Skating lesson. Meet at the hut. Two groups: one for beginners, one for intermediate
The snow dances worked. Terry has finished grooming with the Pisten Bulley and set a diagonal on all trails. Conditions should be perfect for classic but may be soft for skaters. If skaters could first ski the trails that the groomer did first, the skate tracks won’t gouge so deep. He will not set the second classic track on any of the trails that usually have a diagonal track on both sides. This will help the cold new snow firm up better.

Terry just finished grooming everything except the Gold and Red Extension. Yesterday the classic track was in excellent shape as was the skating surface. Should be just as good today. Get on your skis, do a snow dance, make the snow in the forecast a reality. We don’t need a lot more to groom the Gold and Red Extension

Be there before 7 to sign in and warm up.
Two 1.5 fun races down the stadium, around the blue and back up the stadium.

Terry was on the Pisten Bulley well before dawn and regroomed everything we’ve been using the past two days. Then he went to his real job. We’ve had incredible skiing the past two days and it should be just as good today. Skating is outstanding. The diagonal track is shallow but conditions for classic are still good. The groomer creates plenty of surface snow so it’s easy to get an edge on the hills. Thanks for looking after us, Terry.
Still not grooming the Gold and Red Extension but we have 10 km of excellent skiing.

Excellent start for Junior program
Great turnout of skiers, parents, volunteers and coaches for the Junior program yesterday. The junior coaches were a big hit and will be a huge asset to this year’s program as will the team of parents who looked after everything in the hut and helped with the coaching. We will soon have photos from the session on the website. It’s not too late to register for the program.

Challenge group Monday evening
Skiers interested in joining the challenge group (training for races) are asked to meet at the hut for 730pm. Sessions go from 730 to 9pm.
Warm up, technique set, workout set, cool down.
Tomorrow evening there will be some discussion about travelling to other events on the island. If anyone is interested in that but cannot attend tomorrow, please email ansc.coach@gmail.com
Tuesday sprints!
There will be sprint races happening on Tuesday evening starting at 7pm. Participants are asked to be there before 7, so as to sign up and warm up.
Everyone does two 1.5 fun races down the stadium, around the blue and back up the stadium.
Skating and classic styles welcome. All levels welcomed as well.

Terry was on the Piston Bulley shortly after 5 this morning regrooming the trails that Denny did yesterday. The trails had hardened overnight and he had to work slowly, but he was able to grind the surface into snow. We are waiting for a little snow before we groom the Gold and Red Extension.
Terry saw a Great Horned Owl this morning on the Red near the junction of the Black Extension and managed to get a pic despite the poor light. Quite the sighting. See the attachment. There is also a Northern Goshawk which we’ve seen on the lower Red and Red extension. We have lots of rabbits and squirrels so the big birds may be sticking around

Walking to hut.
Going into the hut, walkers keep to the right of the track and take the same path when returning to the parking lot. Stay off the unlit branch of the Black Trail. Instead, follow the lights. Walkers should not be on the ski trails and can borrow snowshoes in the hut if they wish to explore. The day fee for snowshoeing is only $5
Snowshoers keep to the sides
Snowshoers keep to the outside of the track, that is usually to the right. If the groomer has not left a wide enough strip, showshoers should move to the far side of the trail. Snowshoers should not be on the skating surface
