The trails set up well after Sunday night’s grooming and are still in very good shape so we are going to hold off on the grooming for Tuesday. One exception, the Gold, which Terry is going over to deal with a couple of problem spots. Terry will also touch up tonight’sprint course but will not use the augur or set a new track. We are trying to preserve the hard surface tocombat tomorrow’s mild.
Trails closed Wednesday. Hut locked. lights off.
Volunteers need for Gander Invitational on Sunday morning.
Most volunteers will be needed between 11 am and 1 pm. only a few will be needed earlier. To register and get more info go to http://airportnordic.ca/gander-invitational.
Lillian and Jeremy have already purchased the ingredients for their delicious chilli and Dianne is baking some more treats. Anyone else’s baking would be appreciated. The chilli and other treats are not only for skiers but volunteers too.
Snowshoe track widened
Snowshoers stay to the right of the diagonal track. Snowshoers will notice on a number of trails that this area to the right has been widened to give more room for them. Terry had enough time on Sunday night to do this on most of the trails. The Piston Bully must make two trips around a trail to do the widening so it takes a lot of time. The other trails will be done later when time and snow conditions permit.
Sprints 7 pm tonight
The 1.5 km Tuesday evening sprints will begin TONIGHT (Tuesday) . Skiers will ski down the stadium, around lower then upper blue and then back up the stadium. These mini “races” have been happening for a few seasons now and attendance is growing steadily. Anyone is welcome to come out, skate or classic, adult or junior. Start time is 7pm so all we ask is that interested skiers get there a few minutes before so that we are ready to go on time…also, as always, there are prizes(!) For more details contact Paul at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Junior Program photos on website.
Thanks to Hubert McGrath for taking photographs of Sunday’s Junior Program. Check out his album at http://airportnordic.ca/photos whre you will also see his Gander invitational 2015 album.. Again this year Hubert will be taking photos at our invitational. You’ll also notice that many of his pics are rolling on the website home page. Thanks as well to Ashton for all her work in adding these pics and other things including the Gander Invitational page to our website.
We still have a number of Junior Development tickets to sell and only 3 weeks left to get rid of them. If anyone can take 5 or 10 or 20 tickets to sell that would be a huge help. There are also tickets on the table in the hut if you haven’t purchased them yet.
