For today: no grooming, no Junior Program, hut closed and lights off; BUT still lots of decent skiing. Most of the trail system is in very good shape. The last rain and mild system didn’t hit us as badly as expected. We still have a very good base and the freezing rain coated the exposed dirt but not enough for us to be able to groom. There are too many places where the action of the Ginzu groomer would dig up dirt and rocks.
The diagonal track is still well defined and filled with the fresh snow from Saturday. Classic skiers will be pleased once they get past the hut. The skating surface is smooth and much of it is covered by the new snow. Nick skied a number of trails Saturday afternoon and there was seldom trouble getting an edge skating but the wind driven cold snow is slow. Time to wax.
There is ice on the way to the hut and in the stadium area but not in a lot of other places. The downhills on the Red are good but avoid the upper Blue and ski the Red extension in reverse The first 200 m downgrade of the Red extension has a number of bad patches so it’s better not to have any speed as you try to avoid these spots
