Description: Below is some information from Paul Langdon about our first ever Biathlon competition this Sunday in Gander. See the course routes below. For those not competing who would like to ski Sunday morning before 12 noon The Black Extension, Lower Red, Purple, Green, and Red Extension will be available. Ski the Red in reverse to access the western trails but be very careful of approaching skiers on the Red’s hills.

8:00 a.m. – Registration (FEE – TBA)
8:30 a.m. – MANDATORY RIFLE TRAINING and RANGE SAFETY
*** YOU MUST BE PRESENT WHEN THE TRAINING BEGINS ***
9:30 a.m. – Race start
NOON – Finished
AGE GROUPS (Male and Female groups)
MINIMUM AGE IS 9 YEARS OLD as of Jan 1, 2010 (present Grade 4 students)
MIDGET – age 9 to 11
JUNIOR – age 12 to 14 (***a Junior may race in the Senior age Group***)
SENIOR – age 15 to 16
YOUTH – age 17 to 18
ADULT – age 19 to 34
MASTERS – age 35+
EQUIPMENT
You will require your own ski equipment
We will provide Rifle, Pellets, Targets, Safety Glasses, etc…
COURSE 1 – approx 1 km (Race 1 start at approx 9:30 am)
START in stadium (Red) and ski towards highway)
Turn Right on Red
Turn Right at 1st Brown Intersection
Turn Right on Pink
Turn Right on Blue
SHOOT by the Ski Hut
FINISH in the Stadium
COURSE 2 – approx 2km (Race 2 start at approx 10:15 am)
START in stadium (Red) and ski towards highway)
Turn Right on Red
Turn Right at 2nd Brown Intersection
Turn Left on Pink
Turn Left on Blue
Turn Right on Red (Stadium)
SHOOT by the Ski Hut
FINISH in the Stadium
PASSING
A faster competitor MUST shout TRACK, I AM PASSING ON THE LEFT/RIGHT
A slower competitor MUST give way
SIGNAGE & COURSE MARKINGS will be posted prior to 8:00am
BIATHLON signs will be posted as follows…

Intersection of Red/Brown/Black Trails
TRAIL CLOSURES
The above 2 Courses will be CLOSED until the race is completed by noon Sunday.
