Lakeside Loppet

Airport Nordic Ski Club and

The Central Northeast Health Foundation

presents:

The 9th Annual Lakeside Loppet

Sunday, 17 March, 2024

10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Everyone is invited to come out for a fun day of skiing/snowshoeing at the Airport Nordic Ski Trails. Do whatever distance you wish and keep track of how far you go. The maps below show 2 medium routes with distances of 4.2 KM and 5.2 KM or you
can pick your own short distance. We have a nice 10k loop laid out that offers some great scenery and skiing. Skiers will have the option of doing a 10k, 20k, 30k, and even a marathon 40k distance ski in a non-competitive format. There will be a start at
10:10 AM but as this is not a timed event please feel free to come out and participate at any time during the event. There will be no placings or “race” categories. Just a fun day out on the trails skiing/snowshoeing at whatever pace you like.

Snowshoers are also welcome to participate. Please ensure that you either utilize the snowshoe trails or follow trail etiquette.

Registration is a donation to the Central Northeast Health Foundation. Income Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $10 or more.

Representatives from the Health Foundation will be selling tickets on a 50/50 draw. Bring along some cash or cheques. There will not be a Visa machine on site but the Foundation can take your Visa info and process it later.
There are three big objectives:
1. Raise money for the Health Foundation.
2. See how far we can ski/snowshoe as a ski club. Can we break 1000 kms??
3. See how many skiers and snowshoers participate

Rentals will be free with a minimum $20 Donation to the Foundation.

The Health Foundation will have Tim Hortons Coffee/Tea/Hot Chocolate/Tim bits in the Hut.

There will be a table outside the hut for skiers to place their snacks and drinks on, should they choose to do so.

There will be no marshals on the trails, but maps will be posted in advance and signage will be present. The route will be Upper Blue, Purple, Green, Red Extension, and the Red. (10k loop)

Lakeside Loppett 10 km

5.2 km

4.2 km Flatlander

Come out and do whatever you can. Every kilometer counts. The only caution is about possible congestion if you are going in reverse direction along the section of the Red between the Purple and Blue.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE !
